Haarris’s journey began in sunny Southern California where rain was a scarce and prized commodity. Amanda grew up in Connecticut where there was plenty of rain to go around. After 30 years, growing up ~3000 miles part, college, and work, Amanda & Haarris finally met…online. Though not through conventional means, but through COVID-induced remote work – while working on the same project at Antech.
One Teams message turned into two, 4:00pm messages became 8:00pm messages, and they both thought the other was just a workaholic, and while true, there was always a sense of a deeper connection. They should’ve realized this sooner when they started sharing pictures of their pets with one another.
They finally had the chance to meet in person in one of the most romantic places you could imagine…a smoke-filled casino in Las Vegas. They sparked up an immediate connection and Haarris made the trip to Portland, Maine to visit Amanda a couple of weeks later.
After a year and a half of going back and forth between Maine, Virginia, California, DC, New Hampshire, Maine, Wyoming, New York, Virginia, Hawaii, Portugal, and California – Haarris surprised Amanda with a teary-eyed proposal in Yosemite National Park.
Haarris & Amanda have “settled down” together as best as they know how, in Portland, Maine with a host of furry friends where it rains so much that even Haarris has, at times, grown tired of it, but wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
